When third-grade teacher Amy Stanislowski went to work on Feb 3rd, she had no idea she would be surprised with a Milken Educator Award and a $25,000 check from Milken Family Foundation Chairman and Co-Founder Lowell Milken. Unbeknownst to her, a ceremony had been planned to announce her award at a schoolwide assembly full of VIPs including Kansas Deputy Commissioner of Education Dale Dennis, Wichita Public Schools Superintendent John Allison and many more.
“The power of recognition is one of the strongest forces for stimulating human and social action. Yes, recognition is a powerful motivator—to those who receive it as well as those who observe it.” - Lowell Milken
