We kicked off the 2017-18 Milken Educator Awards season at Ruben S. Ayala High School in Chino Hills, California, where English teacher ALEXIS KING joined the Milken Educator family in front of 2,700+ cheering students, colleagues and visitors. Alexis teaches AP, general education, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) and special education students, all of whom flock to her classes because they know she will help them succeed. Surprised and trembling, Alexis shared her Award with the entire school: "Every day, I get to go to a job that I enjoy and have fun with, and we have amazing students here."
“The power of recognition is one of the strongest forces for stimulating human and social action. Yes, recognition is a powerful motivator—to those who receive it as well as those who observe it.” - Lowell Milken
